Pre-Birth Memories with PMH Atwater
Today’s program continues a fascinating discussion with child-NDE researcher, PMH Atwater, we began back in September of this year. If you missed them, I’d suggest you check out our programs of September 9 and 16, 2019, where we discussed the content and goals of PMH’s book, The Forever Angels, Near-Death Experiences in Childhood and their Lifelong Impact. On this show, PMH continues with some addendums to that book, called the Animal Lights Series. These six small books are about animal babies who have prebirth memories, like many human children do. Each of the six babies – monkey, fawn, kitten, skunk, hedgehog, horse – remember different things about living in the light, conception, moving into their mommies "pocket place" (womb), developing a body, miscarriage, birth, handicaps, and full healthy living. Each book is designed to help parents talk to their children about remembering anything, anything at all, from before they were born.

Geir Gigja, pt 2
This week, Lee continues his conversation with Geir Gigja, discussing Eden and other biblical metaphors. Geir was born in 1960 in Reykjavik, Iceland. He began developing his own philosophy as a child, and, instead of college, decided instead to become a fisherman on Icelandic trawlers. When he was twenty, he experienced a severe four-story fall onto cement, which triggered a near-death experience and left him comatose for 10 days. What he experienced during those ten days opened up a whole new dimension of understanding. Geir says it revealed to him the ultimate meaning of life itself, which he discusses in his new book, I Is God, The Journey Begins.

Changing Our Paradigm with Joan Johnson Porter
Our guest today, Joan Johnson Porter, has introduced herself by saying she was "killed in a head-on car accident, had a near-death experience, and was sent back – but that’s not the story." She goes on to say she came back with brain damage and profound amnesia and had to start over again with the barest fundamentals, such as how to choose what to eat next on her dinner plate. Today, in the first of a four-book series, Joan reveals how we can change our paradigm by using the tools she developed from her near-death experience and recovery. Her book is titled, "How to Fly a Caterpillar."

Prophetic Visions Learned from NDEs, Pt 2
Part two of Robert and Suzanne Mays IANDS lecture about prophetic visions learned from NDEs is presented on this week’s show. NDEs frequently give indications that time during the experience is suspended, that the transcendent realm is actually "timeless" and that the events of the NDE seem to occur all at once. One element in some NDEs, relating to time, is a life preview — visions of likely future events in the NDEr’s personal life or in world events. In their talk, the Mays focus on prophetic visions of future world events. The Mays caution that these prophetic visions are admonitions or warnings, and it is crucial that people adopt a positive and accepting attitude toward the future and adjust how they relate to others to be more loving, accepting, tolerant and kind.

Lilia's Story
Our guest, who prefers to go by her first name, Lilia, was an NDEr by the age of three. Since then, Lilia has had numerous NDEs and STEs that were spiritually impactful and transforming. These experiences inspired her to devote her life to the service of others and to help raise global awareness about NDEs and STEs. To that end, Lilia has worked as a mental health & spiritual counselor, and as a medical and spiritual intuitive, for over 35 years. She has served as an Int’l Veteran NDE Advocate & NDE educator. She is a co-associate on Dr. Corcoran’s Vet NDE Project, and serves on IANDS Conference & Military Veteran NDE Committees. Lilia is a student as well of the “I AM” instruction found in the Saint Germain Series books. It is through that study that she teaches the eternal connection to our Source, the Power of One, and the infinite power of Love.

The Future of Earth
This week’s guest, Kenneth Leth, is an old friend to NDE Radio listeners. His near-death experience at the age of eight is most fully described in our shows of November 9 and 16, 2015, and he was most recently on our show of December 10, 2018. You can find these fascinating discussions by hitting the Past Shows button to reach our NDE Radio archive. From visiting his ancestors, the entity Ken calls Mother led him to a place where he saw the earth, mounted on a pedestal. There, a future scenario of our planet was shown to him, though Mother shielded the eight-year-old from memories too painful for a child to bear. As an adult, however, some of those ominous memories have been returned to him.

Prophetic Visions with Robert and Suzanne Mays Part Two
We continue our discussion with Robert and Suzanne Mays about prophetic visions. NDEs frequently give indications that time during the experience is suspended, that the transcendent realm is actually "timeless" and that the events of the NDE seem to occur all at once. Two key elements in many NDEs, relating to time, are a life review and a life preview — visions of likely future events in the NDEr’s personal life or in world events. In their talk, their focus is on prophetic visions of future world events. Prophetic visions in NDEs can be viewed as admonitions or warnings. The Mays caution that these prophetic visions are admonitions or warnings of future events. It is crucial that people adopt a positive and accepting attitude toward the future and adjust how they relate to others to be more loving, accepting, tolerant and kind.

Joseph Marino on the Shroud of Turin Part 2
On today's program, Lee Witting continues his discussion with Joseph Marino, a former Benedictine monk, has been studying the Shroud of Turin, believed by many to the burial cloth of Jesus, since 1977. He and his late wife, M. Sue Benford, presented a paper at the Sindone 2000 World Congress in Orvieto, Italy, hypothesizing that the reason the 1988 C-14 dating of the Shroud resulted in a date range of AD 1260-1390 for the cloth was because of a sixteenth-century repair in the sampled area.

Wrapped Up in the Shroud
Joseph Marino, a former Benedictine monk, has been studying the Shroud of Turin, believed by many to the burial cloth of Jesus, since 1977. Raymond Rogers, one of the scientists from the Shroud of Turin Research Project who studied the Shroud in 1978, thought the hypothesis was nonsense at first but later concluded that Benford and Marino were probably correct. Other scientists have independently verified Rogers' findings. Joseph Marino's book, Wrapped Up in the Shroud is a chronicle of Joe and Sue's fascination with this amazing artifact.

Robert Kopecky: How to Survive Life and Death
Our guest on this show, Robert Kopecky, escaped a traumatic childhood on the edge of San Diego, CA, and has lived the life of a ski bum, factory welder, monumental sculpture fabricator, and underground cartoonist, all before becoming an award-winning Manhattan illustrator, art director and animation designer for clients like the New York Times, Sports Illustrated , the Cartoon Network and PBS Kids. Three very different NDEs led him, as well, to years of study, meditation, and service. He has written two books on the subject — How to Survive Life and Death, and How to Get to Heaven Without Really Dying. You can find Robert’s first appearance on NDE Radio on our archived past show of October 20, 2014. You can find him, as well, on his Internet site, Art, Faith and the Koko Lion.

The IANDS Community
Our guest today, Michelle Kuret, started out on a spiritual quest as a small child when she began questioning what she was told about life and death, heaven and hell. Her curiosity led her early in life to the topic of near-death experiences. Over the next 35 years, and through groups like the organization IANDS, Michelle found these extraordinary stories to be healing and even life-saving during times of deep depression. She longed to somehow share these healing experiences with others but wasn't sure how. That is, until she realized her local community was missing an IANDS chapter. Today, Michelle is founder of the Sacramento IANDS Group where denizens can come together to share and discuss near-death and other spiritually transformative experiences. Michelle will discuss her journey to NDEs and share with NDE Radio how to set up local IANDS groups for anyone interested in creating a safe space for sharing extraordinary events.

Glimpses of the Other Side
Host Lee Witting reflects on why some of us are given a glimpse of the Other Side, only to be sent back to live with visions of paradise in our memory banks. If heaven is where God wants us, and if this is only a matrix reality anyway, then why are we denied early entry to the place we want to be? Clearly, we are sent back as messengers – a title heretofore given to angels – to do additional laboring in the fields. But we’re not angels, "I'm not worthy," we tell ourselves, and so we sit on our hands for years, sometimes, and say little or nothing about what we know to be true about the hereafter.

Rebecca Austill-Clausen: Change Maker
Our guest on today’s show, Rebecca Austill-Clausen, saw her life change one day when, out for a horseback ride, she met and communicated with her deceased brother. Here is a brief passage from her book, Change Maker: "I realized speech was unnecessary: Sending messages via stream of consciousness, or 'thought,' was much faster than speaking with words. I sent my questions telepathically and received instantaneous answers. I shared my extreme sadness at his death, my halfhearted attempts to focus at work, my inability to understand the purpose of his passing. I absorbed his rapid-fire responses: his acceptance of the situation, his willingness to communicate, his ability to transmit unconditional love. Then we shared family updates."

Dr. Doggerel Howls at the Moon
Host Lee Witting salutes Memorial Day with verses from his new book, Dr. Doggerel Howls at the Moon. Dr. Doggerel opens with a retelling of the Six Days of Creation story, followed by the question, "How have we treated this great gift?" It should come as no surprise that with our track record of war profiteering, racism, and corporate, political and religious corruption, our planetary life review isn’t looking so good -- and the Earth is suffering for it. Nevertheless, what the Near-Death Experience teaches about Love can provide great sources for healing. Dr. Doggerel Howls at the Moon, by Dr. Doggerel, is available through Amazon Books.

Walking Between Worlds
Today’s guest, Yemanya Carey, evolved from a troubled teenager, with a history of drugs and alcohol, to a healer of others today. She did this, in part, from what she learned at the age of 17, when she shared in her grandmother’s death experience, and later, through her own NDE at the age of 23 – an experience that turned her life in a whole new direction. Yemanya has been working in the fields of education, health, and wellness now for over 25 years. She is a master healer, international speaker, and workshop facilitator on conscious evolution. She has studied in numerous philosophies and religions, as well as over 16 healing modalities. Today, Yemanya offers her own art of healing as a conscious channel for Light language and vocal sound healing, with the purpose of helping people realize higher states of consciousness, the remembrance of their divine purpose, and why they are here.

The IANDS Prophesy
Today we continue last week’s interview with IANDS new president, Chuck Swedrock. One of the fascinating things we learned about last week was a recent prophesy from a near-death experiencer that IANDS can look forward to playing a major role in the spiritual growth and understanding of the world. This comes at a time of great technological breakthrough in internet communications, where IANDS support for NDErs can be both intimate and worldwide at once. What are the possibilities, the drawbacks, and the consequences of such technology? Chuck joins us to discuss.

The New President Of IANDS
Our guest on this show, Charles "Chuck" Swedrock, the new President of IANDS, is a perfect example of how life in this world can run amuck. To look at Chuck’s resume, you’d think he’d lived a balanced life thus far in his 40-year career as a systems programmer. Yet Chuck was raised in 15 different family situations, with a mother who suffered from such extreme post-partem depression they had to administer shock therapy, and a father who wound up giving his kids away. It was during a session at the dentist that Chuck heard a near-death story that piqued his curiosity, and it planted a seed that came full flower when, in August of 1985 he learned his half-brother David had killed himself. Chuck’s out-of-body understanding of that, coupled with his mother’s vision of David and Jesus, became Chuck’s personal introduction to the other side -- though as most NDErs know, life doesn’t necessarily get any easier, even after our eyes get opened.

Betty Cone: The Blueprint is not complete
When she was 17, Betty Cone was in a bad car accident and had a slight concussion. She was in a coma for 5 days. During the coma, she had a NDE and went through a tunnel to Heaven, and stood face to face with Jesus Christ. Jesus told her he had a work for her on the earth, and that it was not yet her time, that she hadn't completed the blueprint He had for my life, which Satan had disrupted and tried to stop. It was definitely life changing, though it took her several years to fully realize what all it meant.

President's Day: Speaking Truth to Power
Host Lee Witting recorded this President’s Day show just two years ago, one month into the Trump presidency, and was stunned to find how relevant it remains today. Lee writes, "With the exception of the administration’s revolving door of appointees, the tenor of authoritarianism, oligarchy, racism and Russian influence remains remarkably unchanged since this program first aired. The element of hope introduced by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation should not discourage the role NDErs should be playing every day in speaking truth to power. As an NDEr myself, I feel obliged to do the same."

Gary Wimmer: A Second in Eternity
Our guest today, Gary Wimmer, had a remarkable near-death experience back in 1977 when, as a pedestrian, he was struck by a speeding car. Gary describes his NDE in detail on our June 22, 2015 show, and I urge you to go to our Past Shows button when you can, and listen to that amazing description. The story also appears in Gary’s book, A Second in Eternity. On this show, we revisit that day, Feb. 7, 1977, and explore how Gary’s vision differed from the more typical tunnel-light experience, and what it might have meant in strengthening his already developing psychic powers.

The Story of The Wandering Jew Part Three
Over the past two weeks, we presented parts one and two of Lee's version of The Legend of the Wandering Jew; the story of a man who was condemned to walk the Earth until Jesus returned. This week, you will hear the conclusion. It was in graduate school some 30 years ago when Lee first encountered this story, and decided to turn it into a audio production for a school project. The audio cassette is 30 years old, so there are a few glitches.

The Story of The Wandering Jew
The story of the Wandering Jew has been told many ways since the legend got started some 2000 years ago. It concerns a man supposedly cursed by Jesus to live until the Second Coming. Host Lee Witting told his version of the story as a graduate school project, and recently re-discovered the 30-year-old cassette tape with it’s multi-cultural legends of life, death and the end times. This show presents Part One of that tape (together with the inevitable half dozen minor glitches given to a tape this old). Part Two will be presented in next week’s show.

The Legend of the Wandering Jew
Host Lee Witting discusses the legend of the Wandering Jew, a man who lived at the time of Jesus and was destined to live until Christ’s return. The theme fits some characters from the Bible, including the man Jesus raised from the dead (Lazarus), the disciple John, and a man who was cursed by Jesus for telling him to move on.

Approaching the Final Threshold of Death
One of the services IANDS provides for its members are monthy accounts of NDE’s as written down and provided to IANDS by the experiencers themselves. Lee tries to share these experiences as they come out because they are fascinating and to give anyone interested in the afterlife and NDE’s the reminder that IANDS is well worth joining. This episode, he shared three such stories.

Spirituality Through Yoga
Our guest today, Kim Peralta grew up in a non-religious household, and described herself as agnostic as she began her decades-long study of yoga. Given that fact, she was startled one day to feel the guiding hand of a spirit being correcting her posture. Since that awakening experience, she has been sensitive to other personal, mystical experiences in her life, including psychic communications.

Ken Leth: Visions of the Future
One of the gifts Near Death Experiencers sometimes receive from the other side is a knowledge of future events, both for their own lives and for the rest of the world. Our return guest Kenneth Leth is one of those individuals. As an adult, he recalls visions he had as a child, which at the time, were disguised for his own protection. Ken has appeared on the show three times; last Christmas, and twice in November of 2015.

A Spiritual Hypothesis
Daniel Punzak, P.E. has a chemical engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and worked in the environmental field for over 30 years. At that same time he has been fascinated with near-death experiences and other aspects of soul and spirit. Traditional Western religion explains that each human has a spiritual aspect called a soul. Moreover, several passages in the Bible allude to humans having a soul and a spirit. Dan has explored this idea and found numerous modern psychological findings that support this notion. Shamanism and some Eastern religious concepts also support this idea. Dan believes diverse concepts such as creativity and mental illness can be explained by the idea that two spiritual forms are in each human. Through the study of diverse physical and psychological concepts, as well, Dan has evolved an integrated overall theory of human behavior which led him to author the book, A Spiritual Hypothesis: An Inquiry into Abnormal and Paranormal Behavior.

Changed in a Flash: Elizabeth Krohn
When Elizabeth Krohn headed to her Houston synagogue to attend a memorial service for her beloved grandfather, she couldn’t have known that her life would be changed forever. As she drove the pleasant weather gave way to a downpour and fierce thunder and lightning soon followed. She arrived at the synagogue and, with her young son in tow, started to make her way from the car to the building. It was then that she was struck by lightning. Elizabeth saw herself lying on the asphalt as she floated up to what she describes as a garden electrified with vivid, unearthly colors and infused with a sense of unconditional kindness and love. She felt herself communing with a spiritual being, while her sense of time was upended. She was given the choice of returning to her earthly life or remaining in the otherworldly paradise. When she was told that if she went back she would have a third child—a girl who had already selected her and her husband as parents—she rejoined her body and the temporal world. Then it got even stranger. After the lightning strike her life was changed forever. She began to have dreams about future events, developed synesthesia, started seeing auras, and sometimes had a sense of inanimate objects radiating a life force. Oh, and she also gave birth to a daughter. In CHANGED IN A FLASH: ONE WOMAN’S NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE AND WHY A SCHOLAR THINKS IT EMPOWERS US ALL (North Atlantic Books, October 2018, hardcover) Elizabeth recounts her wondrous and unsettling story.

Know Death Well
Nathalie Millar is a sister, wife, mother and friend. At the age of 17, and again when she was 30, Nathalie crossed over from this life into the afterlife where she was “told” it was not her time and was returned to this life with the message, "know death well". Motivated by these experiences, Nathalie embarked on 36 years of self-study, including conversations with souls before, during and after their death and acting as an empath for the recently deceased whose communications manifest themselves in the fibre art that Nathalie creates and has presented to organizations such as the International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS). Currently she is the Grief and Bereavement Coordinator for the Mission Hospice Society, is a certified Death Doula, and cofacilitates afterlife conversations groups.

The Ox Herding Lesson
Today’s show is somewhat different, although it speaks to the universality of mystical experience. It’s based on a famous Buddhist meditation known as the ox-herding lessons, where an untrained ox is a metaphor for the untrained mind, and the training is analogous for the pursuit of enlightenment. The story is known to have emerged from 11th Century China, and was created in drawings and verse for each step of the way. At some point, it’s said, the original verses were lost, but the drawings were preserved. The tradition has morphed to other animals, including the training of elephants. The original had five stages of development, although later versions doubled the number of steps toward discipling the mind, and then rejoining the world.

Andy Parks
For most of his life, Andy Parks lived in pursuit of material possessions, career and status. Even though he achieved what would be considered a financially stable life and career success, he still felt empty inside. Prior to learning about the NDE, Andy was not a believer in an afterlife, and considered himself an atheist. In 1995, out of desperation, he dropped to his knees and asked God to come into his life, if God existed. That is when Andy began studying the NDE and now credits it to an absolute belief in God, a life after this earthly existence, a guide for how to live his life, and changing how he treats other people. Retired from the corporate world, he now teaches business courses at the college level.

Jim Bruton's Visit to the In Between
Jim Bruton was flying a slightly later model reproduction airplane in October 2016 when his engine quit and he crashed into a forest. Breaking all of his ribs, rupturing both lungs, breaking his right leg in numerous places....he was fortunate to stay alive until the medical evacuation helicopter could pick him up and fly him straight to the Hartford Trauma Center. There, with multiple 6+ hour operations planned and the surgeons telling Jim's wife that it would be touch and go for that week and they could still lose him at any time, it was decided to put Jim into a coma for that entire week.

And that is where our story really begins, for in that coma Jim went to a place he calls the In Between.

The Terror that Comes in the Night
David Hufford's work exploring the experiential basis for belief in the supernatural, focusing here on the so-called Old Hag experience, a psychologically disturbing event in which a victim claims to have encountered some form of malign entity while dreaming (or awake). Sufferers report feeling suffocated, held down by some "force," paralyzed, and extremely afraid.

The experience is surprisingly common: the author estimates that approximately 15 percent of people undergo this event at some point in their lives. Various cultures have their own name for the phenomenon and have constructed their own mythology around it; the supernatural tenor of many Old Hag stories is unavoidable. Hufford, as a folklorist, is well-placed to investigate this puzzling occurrence.

Remember: A Little Boy’s Near Death Experience
Russell Ricks experienced a remarkable encounter with the Other Side when he was just eight years old. That experience, along with a remarkable brain condition in the linkage between right and left sides of the brain, may have contributed to his lifelong career as a visual artist. His artwork has been collected throughout the United States, and a large body of his artwork was recently shown at the prestigious Springville Museum of Art, as part of the Passages and Pathways exhibit. His monumental indoor murals grace the walls of some major corporations, such as Cabela's, Novatek, and Alcoa, Inc. Russell served a proselytising mission in the Sacramento, California and Oakland, California Missions from 1977-1979 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has served in various callings as a lay member of the LDS Church. He is the author of Remember: A Little Boy’s Near Death Experience.

My Decscent Into Death
Howard Storm was born in Newton, Massachusetts, and earned his graduate degree from the University of California Berkeley. He later became an art professor at Northern Kentucky University, a position he held for 20 years. During that time, prior to his near-death experience, Professor Storm described himself as a confirmed atheist. In June 1985, Storm took a group of his students on a field trip to Paris, where he suffered a sudden onset of severe abdominal pain from a duodenal perforation. While awaiting surgery at a Paris hospital, Storm passed out and began a profound NDE involving elements of both heaven and hell that radically changed his life. Rev. Canon Timothy M. Dombek
Rev’d Canon Timothy M. Dombek, is unusual among main line clergy for his understanding of the importance of personal mystical experience, and how it can contribute to the vitality of traditional worship. Canon Timothy first became interested in Near Death Experiences while serving as a chaplain during seminary CPE training when he read the book, Closer to the Light, by Dr. Melvin Morse. Since then he has read extensively in the area of NDEs, and got to know Rev. Howard Storm after reading his classic book on his NDE, My Descent into Death. Howard Storm led a Quiet Day at Timothy’s church on the first Saturday of Advent 2016, and the next day shared the story of his NDE with the larger community in an open talk given at Advent Episcopal Church. Canon Timothy hopes to begin an IANDS chapter in the Northwest Valley of Phoenix later this year, meeting on Sunday afternoons at the church.

Terry Diane Andersen
This week's guest, Terry Diane Andersen, writes about herself: "As a child I could see the natural energies of trees, mountains, animals, and people, and experienced departed loved ones sitting on my bed communicating with me. A sudden NDE transported me to another dimension with three beings who gave me a past and future life review. I experienced a change of consciousness and personality that left me with the ability to see through time and space, into people's lives and bodies, preview events with people I had yet to meet, communicate with departed souls and more. I sought extensive training in controlled remote viewing, medical applications, neuroscience and psychic mediumship to learn how to apply my abilities to help others."

Mediumship and Spiritual Healing
Janie Thompson had a profound NDE in 2008 while in the emergency room. She was taken to the hospital with a sudden illness early one morning, and by that afternoon, the illness had progressed rapidly. Leaving her body, entering the light and being in spirit form changed her life dramatically. The process of integrating the aftereffects of her NDE were challenging, especially integrating the spontaneous mediumship experiences that began occurring immediately after her NDE. Having overcome these challenges, her focus is now on helping and healing others. Janie serves as an intuitive healer and psychic medium. She consults with NDErs around the world who have felt challenged to cope with NDE aftereffects, especially mediumship.

ENCORE SHOW: Thoughts on MLK
On Dr. Martim Luther King, Jr. Day, host Lee Witting suggests there are some indications in King's life and in his teachings that Dr. King might have experienced an NDE. The Problem of Lies
On the first day of 2018, host Lee Witting tackles the problem of lies being told to the world today, and how those lies can kill the unwary. Healing comes through recognition that every lie can be tested by the lessons of the Light: Test each assertion you encounter — especially on the Internet. Just ask yourself, does the statement truly work to bring compassion, empathy and love to unite and heal the world, or does it work to generate anger, fear and confusion by seeking to divide and conquer.

Visions from the Future
Kenneth Leth first described his remarkable experience on NDE Radio’s past shows of November 9 and 16, 2015, and today’s interview looks at prophecies he received as a child that seem particularly relevant today. Ken’s NDE began shortly after getting prepped for an operation on his burst appendix. A nurse strapped the eight-year-old to an operating table, where he was sedated with ether. The year was 1963, about a month before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and Ken saw that coming, and much more -- visions that speak to dangerous situations we find ourselves in today. Ken has written the story in his new book, Mother in Heaven, available in a Kindle edition on Amazon.

Approximately three years ago, she was struck with a strange autoimmune disorder called idiopathic anaphylaxis; which is a fancy way of saying that she goes into anaphylaxis and anaphylactic shock without being seriously allergic to anything. This condition has caused her to be critically ill on numerous occasions. During three episodes of anaphylactic shock in 2014, she felt her spirit leave her body and subsequently had three near-death experiences; each a continuation of the one before. This is the story she will share with you on this episode.

Robert and Suzanne Mays: The Self Conscious Mind
Robert and Suzanne Mays have studied the phenomena of near-death experiences (NDEs) together for over 35 years, although neither has had an NDE. Their research focuses on the phenomena connected with the out-of-body component of NDEs, especially veridical perceptions and other verified paranormal phenomena during an NDE. Their theory of consciousness, the "mind-entity hypothesis", is derived from NDE and neurological phenomena. It explains how the nonmaterial mind interacts with the brain in ordinary consciousness. They wrote the Foreword to the recent book The Self Does Not Die, published by IANDS. Their web site is http://selfconsciousmind.com.

Life Changes from the Other Side
NDErs often return from the experience with increased knowledge and a need to change careers. But sometimes — perhaps more often than we think — life-changing information comes through from the Other Side without our going there to get it. Today’s guest, Anja Prestridge, is one such person with a fascinating story to tell.

Christianity and the Near Death Experience
Why does traditional Christianity tend to ignore the Near-Death Experience? Does part of it have to do with NDErs’ increased belief in the possibility of reincarnation? Host Lee Witting reviews the worldwide acceptance of reincarnation -- including that by the early Christian faithful -- until it was quashed by Church Fathers some 500 years after Jesus.

NDEs and the Matrix Reality
Lee Witting and his wife, Charlene Kent, continue the discussion from three shows ago of how NDEs mirror this reality. The "Matrix" reality is referenced to ideas from Yuvai Noah Harari’s recent book, Homo Deus, and Dr. Raymond Moody’s search for a nonsense language to describe NDEs (from last week’s show) are compared to science's current obsession with data flows as the universal language.

The Language of the Near Death Experience
Last week’s interview with Dr. Raymond Moody continues with an exploration of how a new language may be required to communicate the information gathered from NDEs. What some would call "nonsense" may be required to break through the limitations of rational thinking.

The Father of the Near-Death Experience
Our guest today, Dr. Raymond Moody, is the man who pioneered modern research into NDE’s.  His interest in the subject began with his study of early Greek philosophy, and Plato’s powerful story of the warrior Er – the classic tale of near-death experience as told in Plato’s Republic.  Dr. Moody’s PhD in philosophy was followed a few years later by an MD in psychiatry, and his work in forensic psychiatry. Dr. Moody is best known for his groundbreaking, best-selling 1975 book, Life After Life, in which he coined the term "near-death experience."  Many books later, we know that was just the beginning of his exploration of how we might understand NDEs in a world given over to the constricted notion that the scientific method is the only path to knowledge.

What is Real?
On last week’s show, host Lee Witting discussed how NDEs should be considered not only as windows into heaven, but also as mirrors to reflect the nature of the “realness" of our lives on earth. Lee continues that discussion with today’s guest, Lee’s wife, Charlene Kent, who holds a Master of Theological Studies degree from Bangor Seminary, and has made a study of some science fiction approaches to interpreting what we call “real."

July 10, 2017
Windows or Mirrors
Are NDEs gifts meant to be windows into heaven, or intended more as mirrors to reflect the NDErs' roles in their lives on Earth? In this show, host Lee Witting speculates on the nature of what the world calls “reality,” what NDErs see as reality, and how the two might be connected — or perhaps even reconciled.

Father Walton and the Shroud of Turin
Last week’s conversation with Father Rod Walton continues today with a discussion of the Shroud of Turin, believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus mentioned in the gospels. The roller coaster ride of scientific theories concerning the Shroud now seems to lean toward confirmation that the Shroud is an authentic full-body image of Jesus, a photo generated by the flash of light of the resurrection.

Janice Goff & The Storm Warning
Our return guest today is Janice Goff, who has experienced many encounters in her life with aspects of the Other Side. One of the most powerful – and meaningful – experiences was when her deceased father came back to motivate her to save her mother from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, as it swept through Louisiana and Mississippi. It’s estimated Katrina ranks in the top five of the most deadly, damaging and expensive natural disasters ever to hit this country, and Janice’s aging mother was in the path of destruction even before Janice — who was living in Arizona by then -- knew the storm was about to hit. That’s when her deceased father warned her of what was to come. The photo is one Janice took of that angry storm in late August, 2005.

Alan R. Stevenson was your average run of the mill kinda guy until 9:25 am on February 26th 2010 when on his way to work suffered what should have been a fatal heart attack on a city bus during the only snow storm of the season. Alan Side stepped time and physical reality to have a Near Death experience. One in which was more of an edification process once he made a choice to return to physical Life.

He met by a Tiger, who is the Guardian Of Souls and accompanied Alan to a place or point of Being that Alan refers to Heavens Door. From that point forward Alan's understanding of Life, its meaning and purpose have never been the same.

The Visions of Karen Thomas
Karen Thomas shares her NDE story from July 7, 1982 – and the verification of her out of body perceptions. The surgeon saved her life and Karen was able to verify with him what she had seen while out of body. Recently, Karen followed up with the surgeon again and he remembers that day even after nearly 35 years, and remembers some of their later conversation. Karen experienced a vision of prayers, which appeared like “musical notes” that she saw rising up to her from people praying for her -- especially the prayer of her 9-year-old daughter. It’s a very deep, touching NDE account that you don’t want to miss !

Visit to Heaven
Mindy C. Speranza has had a difficult life. She grew up in an abusive home, was sent to several institutions, and ended up a single mom, forced to raise her two children alone. She has dangerous conflicts with her neighbor and is forced out of her business by her partner. All of this would be enough to make anyone quit and declare that there is no God and nothing awaiting us after this life.

One morning Mindy wakes up to hear a voice on the TV telling her, “We are body, soul, and spirit, and most people have no power in their life because they don’t go deep enough to touch Spirit, where all the power is.” She realizes that it’s God speaking directly to her.

Mindy goes about her day in a panic until she has the time to “pray deeper.” As she retreats further into her spiritual center, she feels her spirit being lifted up by God. He takes her on a miraculous tour of the afterlife.

And Mindy comes away from the experience with the absolute knowledge that God loves every one of us.

Churches Should Discuss NDE's
Churches could be the logical vehicle for conveying information about the NDEs we experience, and yet, many pastors shy away from the discussion of today's personal mystical experiences, relying instead on the mystical events written about in the Bible thousands of years ago. They speak of the word of God—and yet, the proliferation of NDEs would suggest that God is still speaking to us – if we would only listen, and then share the information. Host Lee Witting reads from an article just published in the September, 2016 issue of The Congregationalist Magazine, written by him to the churches concerning the importance of NDEs.

The Origin of our Nature
On this week's show, we continue our conversation with Maria Dolhai who lives in Melbourne, Australia. Since she was a young child, she had great interest in understanding the nature of our true being. This interest was induced by two distinct spiritual experiences, one of which was an unforgettable dream. The recount of this event was read by Lee on the 4th of November 2013 show. This seems to have acted as catalyst in her further exploration of the origin of our nature, and led to the discovery of the true source of happiness, peace and connectedness.

The Spiritual Implications from 9-11
Today’s broadcast is the re-recording of a show first presented on January 5, 2015, which reflected on some of the spiritual implications of the events surrounding the tragedy of 9-11. 9-11, and the financial collapse of 2008, were seen by Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn as part of a larger, seven-year cycle of spiritual setbacks brought on by our own bad behavior. This year, 2016, the next following the seven-year cycle of the Hebrew Shemitah, has not yet demonstrated the same degree of setback Rabbi Cahn was warning of – unless you count the state of our presidential campaign! Given the potential outcome of November’s election, 2016 could be a fitting consequence to the seven-year cycle of national disasters Cahn has written about. Give a listen to this show again, and see what you think.

The Self Does Not Die
For those who believe in the reality of NDEs, nothing is more moving than visions describing the landscape and light of the other side. But for those who doubt, nothing is more convincing than OBEs and NDEs offering veridical evidence that these visions are verifiably true. IANDs' new translation of the book, The Self Does Not Die, offers more than a hundred such verified stories, and host Lee Witting reads a sampling.

Conceptions of the Afterlife in Early Civilizations
Lee's guest is Dr. Gregory Shushan author of the Grawemeyer Award-nominated Conceptions of the Afterlife in Early Civilizations: Universalism, Constructivism, and Near-Death Experience. His work convincingly shows that NDEs have inspired afterlife conceptions among world cultures from ancient times. That is, NDEs appear to be a causal inspiration of religious belief from ancient times, not an illusion produced as the result of religious belief.

The Mystic Revelations of Don Green
Don Green has experienced many personal mystical revelations through the practice of traditional Christianity. He grew up the oldest of seven children in a strict Irish Catholic family. After high school, he briefly entered the seminary only to find that really wasn’t what God wanted of him at that time. Shortly after he left the seminary, he received his draft notice, but choose to enter the Navy, to pursue a construction trade. He spent four years in the Navy, going to Viet Nam in 1967-68. He was married and running his own construction business when he became involved with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement. In January 1979, he was involved in an automobile accident, which laid him up for almost a year. He lost his home and his business, but wound up reading many Christian books, particularly a lot of C. S. Lewis, which helped him regain his religious footing.

Rev. Catherine Paretti
Rev. Catherine Paretti is a clairvoyant, spiritual counselor, healer, medium, teacher and life coach. Catherine's life was riddled with illness, and after being given six months to live, she had an NDE and was gone for five minutes. Upon her return she was healed, and even though she had been clairvoyant since the age of five, her gifts became more intense and Catherine discovered a healing ability, knowledge and wisdom that was to aid her work. During her NDE she saw herself being ordained. On August 12, 2000 this vision was fulfilled when Catherine was ordained as an Interfaith Minister.

Catherine has written two books, Just Be, and The Perfection of Being, which she was guided to write. Catherine was born in Astoria, Queens and now resides in Manhattan, New York. She believes that with faith all things are possible.

Understanding Distressing NDE's
How can there be distressing near-death experiences when God is described as all-forgiving and loving? Does love by its very nature have to be reciprocal in order to succeed in heaven? Host Lee Witting quotes some NDErs, and gives his point of view on the matter.

Hello from Heaven- After-Death Communication
After-death communications,or ADCs, occur when someone is contacted spontaneously and directly by a deceased family member or friend, without the help of any medium. Bill Guggenheim's research shows that these spiritual experiences offer hope, love, and comfort for thousands of people. Included are more than 350 first-hand accounts of those whose lives have been changed and even protected by messages or signs from the deceased.

Soul Code
Our guest Matthew DeBow is an author and inventor who most recently has moved into medical device design and manufacturing. His first book describes the healing power of Light. In 2015 DeBow released his second book, titled Soul Code: Near-Death experiences, Pre-Conception Memories, Transformative Spiritual Events, Life-Between-Life Regression, Induced After-Death Communication. In his book he compares a wide range of research studies from science, medicine, psychology and theology, gathering data about the human soul. The thread that connects these experiences clearly shows a higher dimensional aspect of who we are, consistently, no matter what our personal beliefs are -- atheist, agnostic or religious.

Stories from the Archives of IANDS
Fortunately, many wonderful people have provided IANDS with written reports of their NDEs, OBEs, and other mystical happenings. IANDS has archived this material for further research and study, and also to provide its members with a monthly NDE story from its files. A few shows back, host Lee witting read some of these monthly reports on the air, and since audience response was positive, he continues with more today.

Visions of America's Future
Guest Kenneth Leth has been on NDE Radio twice before, back in November of 2015, and if you haven’t listened to his story thus far, I’d recommend your listening to those shows from our archives. In describing his NDE, Ken reported that at age eight his soul lifted up, but was trapped at first by a long thread that attached him to his body, while the angry ghosts of bad children tormented him in the dark. (Interesting that it sounds something like the political arena in the United States right now!) And coincidentally, the awakened memories he is having these days of what he was shown back then reflect very much on the impending future of the USA.

Sharon Levites
Sharon Levites was riding a bike to her veterinarian-tech graduation party when she was struck by a bus and nearly killed. 45 years later, that accident and her resulting NDE still affect her life — for better and for worse. Sharon is living proof that an understanding approach to near-death experiencers can save them from doctors who prescribe unnecessary, confusing and harmful drugs, and even commit the NDEr to a psychiatric hospital. All this can happen because the patient exhibits otherworldly gifts, and spirit-led expressions of love and empathy, gained from a near-death experience the doctors refuse to understand.

Research Into NDE's
Robert and Suzanne Mays have studied the phenomena related to near-death experiences (NDEs) together for over 35 years, although neither has had a near-death experience. Their research focuses on the phenomena connected with the out-of-body component of NDEs, especially veridical perceptions during an NDE, Neurological phenomena demonstrating the operation of the nonmaterial mind, with a focus on memory formation and recall, Verification and corroboration of specific cases veridical perceptions in an NDE, and Experiments on interactions of the human bioenergy field, such as in an energy healer or a phantom limb, with physical processes such as fluorescent materials and photographic paper.

Rich Kelley: Life is a Stage Play
Rich Kelley is our guest this week. Rich had a near death experience at 15 years old by drowning in the surf in Santa Monica Bay, California. The things that he was shown "on the other side" or at "home" as he calls it, made sense of so many questions we all have about being "here". He has had a number of "paranormal" experiences since that time that most people seem to find of great interest.

Round Trip: The Near Death Experience
Tim O’Reilly grew up in Queens, New York City and had a near death-like experience when he was ten years old. Although he didn’t give much thought to his experience when it happened, Tim believes a seed was planted which inspired him to produce and direct the documentary, Round Trip: The Near Death Experience, thirty years later. Along with "Round Trip’s" general audience appeal, the documentary is being utilized by hospices throughout the country and the world for it’s healing quality. Tim’s film was endorsed by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, who said, “I love 'Round Trip' and all its’ characters.”

Spirtitual Songs from the Other Side
An accidental drug overdose when he was 15 years old gave Paul Espinoza the gift of an NDE. Still he did not change his dangerous lifestyle until two terrible car accidents forced his hand, and he found himself writing spiritual songs and poetry he thinks he may be receiving from his Native American great grandmother (see picture) and her son, Paul’s grandfather, both of whom wrote similar verse when they were still alive.

Claudia Hopper
This program’s guest, Claudia Hopper, faced back in the 1960’s what many teens face today — a dysfunctional, abusive family, a strong willful nature to survive, and an attraction, even addiction to drugs to ease the pain of living. What was added to the mix was a childhood vision of a huge guardian angel, and a near-death experience that ultimately helped guide her to a life of art and a career aimed at helping others.

Now is Your Time
Death has a way of bringing into sharp focus the more important things in life. This is the lesson that D'vora Power learned in December 2013 after a near-death experience from a lingering pneumonia. D'vora had the world by the tail. She was strong and working hard to make her dreams come true. One of those dreams was an all-expense paid cruise to Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel. Several weeks prior to leaving, she experienced flu-like symptoms, but she dragged herself out of bed and boarded the boat anyway. That decision nearly killed her. This is D'vora's story of illness, healing, the loving touch of the Father's hand, the heavenly bodyguards surrounding her, and most importantly, those lessons learned as she peeked beyond the veil.

Conversations with God
This week, we continue our conversation with Ken Leth. In 1963, he left his body during an operation, and he came back with an expanded view of life that he is still trying to figure out. He doesn't have a book to sell. He's not trying to make a name for himself. He just likes to talk about spirituality on a level that too few seem to understand.

Our Private Connection with God
Ken Leth describes himself as just a guy born and raised in central Nebraska who has known since the age of eight that each of us have a private connection to God.

In 1963, he left his body during an operation, and he came back with an expanded view of life that he is still trying to figure out. He doesn't have a book to sell. He's not trying to make a name for himself. He just likes to talk about spirituality on a level that too few seem to understand.

More with Thomas D. Abraham on Conciousness
In his lectures, Thomas D. Abraham discusses a consciousness-centric evolutionary theory which goes beyond the widely accepted Darwinian approach and enters the realm of personal transformation. Unlike materialist models concerning physical evolution at the species level, this theory considers the individual’s evolutionary process across multiple lifetimes and towards greater complexity and spiritual maturity. He also examines each of the chakras; not only as energetic centers of the body with physiological correspondences, but as representative of phases in our personal evolutionary history.

Awakenings from the Light
Nancy Rynes was hit by an SUV while riding her bicycle. Suffering from severe spinal and head injuries, Rynes knew she was dying. At that moment, she underwent the first of two life-changing near-death experiences. Rynes, a scientist and confirmed skeptic, was shown the wonders of Heaven, experiencing joy, love, and beauty on such a grand scale that she wept at its magnitude. She then met and spoke with a Being who gave her insights into life, love, and the wonders of Spirit. After her tour of Heaven, she was returned to her body to begin the long, slow process of recovering from injuries her surgeon affirms should have killed her.

Nancy recounts the amazing sights of Heaven in her book Awakenings from the Light.

The Nature of Conciousness
Archit Goel is a scientist/mathematician who lives in Mumbai, India with his wife and son. Along with his understanding of physics, he has studied the teachings of the mystic, Paramahansa Yogananda, and is familiar with Sanskrit and the 5000-year-old Indian texts known as the Upanishads. In his presentation at this year’s IANDS conference, he interpreted scientifically the observations in an NDE, and provided insight into the nature of consciousness. Archie argues that one should be able to reach a single truth via suitable analysis of different phenomenon, removing the conflict between science/math and spirituality.

Death as Transition
Rev. Katherine James Klemstine, DMin, is a recently retired hospice chaplain for Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland. Her educational background includes a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate in Ministry, with specialization in the field of Ministry at the End of Life, and in her practice she developed and taught the Vigil Volunteer Training Program.

Katherine’s work with dying patients uniquely qualifies her for her discussion at the 2015 IANDS Annual Conference in San Antonio, TX on the topic, Death as Transition: The Soul’s Withdrawal from the Body and NDE’s during the Dying Process. Katherine examines the transition of the soul as it withdraws from the physical body during the dying process, and reflects on the Near-Death Experience in terms of the withdrawal and subsequent return of the soul to the physical body. She compares the physical description of the dying process to the changes in consciousness as the soul passes from the physical body into the non-physical and spiritual realms. In her work she also shares her guidelines on how those at the bedside of a dying person can provide a compassionate, caring, listening presence to support the dying person who has experienced an NDE.

Edgar Cayce and NDE?
Neil Helm’s interest in whether Edgar Cayce, America’s greatest psychic, experienced an NDE, is probably related to Neil's own near-death experience when he was a child. Neil was reared close to the Montana/North Dakota border in a farm-ranch setting. He had a near-death experience at age five, when he drowned in a hot spring in central Montana. It profoundly changed his life, and Neil developed a personal relationship with God that exists to this day.

Psychology and the Near-Death Experience
Near death experiences tantalize the public’s interest in what lies beyond the final human breath. Answers have been streaming by the thousands during the last few decades from people who have had them. However, grand designs can only be splendidly revealed by connecting thousands of NDE accounts like a jigsaws puzzle. In his groundbreaking book, Psychology of the Near Death Experience, Roy L. Hill roughly sketches God’s canvas by integrating hundreds of NDE testimonies within the context of human psychology.

While I Was Out
Deirdre DeWitt Maltby experienced an accident, a twelve-day coma, and an NDE that gave her a new perspective, a new journey and a new life. Now Deirdre strives to share what she terms "the within that connects us all with the invisible wiring of universal Love." She insists that one does not need to have a near-death experience to open hearts to what is out there waiting. Her book, While I Was Out, is available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and at her website.

Bo Billups & NDE Support Groups
Bo Billups, a non-NDEr himself, was motivated by NDE research to start a death & dying study/support group at his church, moderate NDE book discussions and search for a faith community that more fully reflected the lessons of the NDE. He’ll share that process as well as the responses he’s observed from many other non-NDErs. He believes we don’t need to have an NDE to appreciate the profound life lessons they reveal.

Bo has observed that when exposed to NDE research and the personal NDE stories, some “non-near death experiencers” are compelled to share their own unique spiritual experiences they have rarely, if ever, discussed before. The topic can also lead to a new openness to spirituality based on living without fear, living with purpose, and the true nature of consciousness.

Angels in Disguse
Alexa Hartung has worked in business, and also as a massage therapist, Reiki master and teacher, certified nurse aide, and author. Following her second NDE, Alexa found that dogs especially would send pictures or words into her head. What they showed her went way beyond simple words or pictures. Alexa has self-published Angels in Disguise, a book about her twelve dogs, after-death visits, five cats, and friends' pets. A frequent speaker at the Seattle and Phoenix area IANDS, Alexa will lead a discussion in San Antonio at the upcoming IANDS Convention on Labor Day weekend. At that venue, she will discuss the order in heaven that pets are involved in.

Veridical Perceptions in Near-Death Experiences
Robert Mays and his wife Suzanne have studied NDEs together for over 35 years, although neither has had a near-death experience. They research the phenomena of NDEs and shared-death experiences (SDEs) and the implications for understanding consciousness and neurological function. In particular they study the phenomena connected with the out-of-body component of the NDE, especially veridical perceptions during NDEs and SDEs, and apparent interactions between the NDE and physical reality during their NDE. They also study the neurological evidence of the non-material “mind” during ordinary consciousness and the neurological mechanisms for an interface between the “mind” and the brain.

Are We Living in the Time of Revelation?
What if some of the worst Biblical prophecies feared by fundamental Christians have already happened? What if the imaginings of a future evil are already here and are so universally accepted that they aren't even acknowledged? This week, Lee explores the Book of Revelation and wonders if we aren't already living in the end times and have just not noticed it.

Fallen Angels on Earth
Dennis Hamrick is an attorney working in Bangor, Maine on legal support for the indigent. An interest in Jewish studies preceded his exploration of spiritualism, and later convinced him of the messiahship of Jesus. Dennis experienced an interesting revelation, accompanied by signs and certain scriptural passages, that Earth is occupied by fallen angels struggling to earn their way back to heaven (an argument made by the famous 3rd Cen. Church Father, Oregin of Alexandria). Dennis is also an accomplished musician and actor, and an important part of Bangor's Brick Church Theater Company.

A Soulful Awakening
Prior to Stephanie Banks' near-death experience, she led a life directed by modern-day terms that lacked depth and clarity. Following her encounter with death, her life transformed to that of an awakened soul. She is now dedicated to mastering this wisdom and writing candidly about all that she learns through the process. Her connection to the non-physical realm, and her book, A Soulful Awakening, have offered guidance and transformation to those who seek insight into our existence. Stephanie attended the University of Western Ontario and is currently enrolled in the master class of spiritual enlightenment. She lives with her family in British Colombia, Canada.

Gloria Oelman grew up in the 50s in a mining town in the outback of Australia. Family life was chaotic and unstable as her father had done a disappearing act and her mother was often hospitalised with nervous breakdowns. Some of her caretakers were angels, some were devils.

She met her husband when she was 18 and he was her saviour. They married in 1970 and soon went into business together. For most of their married life, they were joined at the hip with no children to distract them from each other. His death in 1997 left a gaping hole in Gloria's life but it also proved to be a catalyst to reconnect with the spiritual life that had sustained her in childhood. She was sent on a journey of discovery she would never have imagined, and this led her to finally accept that there really is no death.
