Attorney Althea DeBarr-Johnson

Althea Debarr-Johnson, Esquire is an attorney in private practice in Atlanta, and has been an ad hoc judge for the Dekalb County Recorder's Court since August 2001, where she adjudicated traffic and county ordinance violations.
Attorney Johnson established her private law practice in January 1997, and specializes in probate law and estate planning.

Her professional law licenses include the State Bar of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and State Bar of Pennsylvania.

In addition to running her law practice and serving as an ad hoc judge, Debarr-Johnson serves as Guardian ad Litem for Fulton County Probate Court and as a Court Appointed Attorney for Adult Guardianship matters.
A Certified Mediator, Debarr-Johnson also serves as a mediator between parties in various legal matters needing such intervention to reach agreements.

Prior to her current roles as head of her own law firm, being an ad hoc judge and guardianship appointments for Fulton County, Debarr-Johnson was Office Manager/Legal Assistant at the Smith Law Firm (Atlanta) from February 1995 to December 1996. Among her other duties there, she managed the firm's attorney's caseloads, researched, analyzed, drafted and prepared legal documents.

Debarr-Johnson's professional affiliations include membership in the State Bar of Georgia Fiduciary Law section. Her civic affiliations include a board member of the historic Butler Street Community Development Corporation, formerly the Butler Street YMCA, and United '74, Inc in Florence, South Carolina. She was a former board member of the APEX Museum in Atlanta and DeKalb County Council on Literacy.

She has been an occasional guest on WAOK-AM, a local radio station in Atlanda, on the "Solutions & Remedies with Rob Wilson" show where she discussed wills and trusts, guardianships, wealth protection, and the administration of estates. Attorney Johnson frequently hosts free estate planning seminars to the community.

Debarr-Johnson is married to Earl Johnson.
