Dr. Floran Syler

Dr. Floran Syler, CPA is a financial presenter, writer, coach and is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. Floran sits on the Accounting Advisory Board at Atlanta Technical College and teaches accounting online at University of Maryland University College, Grand Canyon University and Strayer University. In 2010, Floran retired as Partner of the public accounting practice Harvey, Covington & Thomas, LLC and opened Mind Your Business Consultants (MYB); a business consulting firm located just outside Atlanta that offers financial counseling, strategic planning and tax advice to individuals, small businesses and non-profit organizations. She is also the founder and lead consultant of the MYB Financial Fitness Club which assist individuals in achieving financial independence. She is the former weekly host of Chronicles of Black Wealth television talk show hosted by the 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay and is the weekly co-host of Mind Your Business Radio Show on Talkzone Internet Radio and available on iTunes podcasts.

Dr. Syler holds a Bachelorís degree in Hospitality Management, Bachelorís and Masterís degrees in Accounting and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership. Dr. Sylerís professional education also includes a certificate in African American Leadership from the Center for Creative Leadership in North Carolina as well as a certificate in Executive Leadership from Harvard Universityís Business School (B- School) and Certified Franchise Consultant from Francorp, Inc. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Dr. Syler has over 20 years experience in management and accounting having served in several capacities including Director of Finance, Director of Audit and Regional Operations Director. She is the former Managing Partner of Thomas & Carr, LLC and managed offices in Tampa and Chicago. She has worked for large for profit and not-for-profit corporations handling millions in federal and state funded contracts.
