Leonard Birdsong

A five-time Professor-of-the-Year Awardee, at Barry University Law School, in Florida, Professor Leonard Birdsong received his J.D. from the Harvard Law School and his B.A. from Howard University.

 After graduation from law school he worked four years at the law firm of Baker Hostetler. He then entered into a varied and distinguished career in government service. He served as a diplomat with the U.S. State Department with various postings in Nigeria, Germany and the Bahamas.

Birdsong later served as a federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. After leaving government service, and before he began teaching, Professor Birdsong was in private law practice in Washington, D.C.

Professor Birdsong has written two series of humor books: Professor Birdsong’s Dumbest Criminal Stories and Professor Birdsong’s Weird Criminal Law Stories, Volume 1-6.In 2016 Birdsong won awards from both the Florida Authors & Publisher’s Association and the Florida Writers Association for his latest book: Professor Birdsong’s Law School Guide: Techniques for Choosing and applying to Law School.

Leonard Birdsong has hosted radio programs on Orlando's WDBO-AM and on Washington, D.C. stations WPFW-FM & WRC-AM.

He has also appeared as a TV legal analyst on MSNBC, Fox News, & WUSA-Channel 9 in Washington, D.C. He currently appears as a radio legal analyst for CBS radio and Fox News radio.
