How to Better Understand Your Dog
Bookmark and Share
Your dog is communicating with you all the time through its body language, barking and facial expressions. But if we don't know how to read these messages, there is much we may misunderstand about our dogs. Susan's guest this week, Jennifer Arnold, author of Through a Dog's Eyes has years of experience learning about and from dogs through her work at Canine Assistants, a service dog school. You will be amazed by the stories of what service dogs can actually do to help the people they love and you will learn how to better "read" your dog’s behaviors and emotions.
Episode Segments:

Wild About Pets: Canine Assistants
Jennifer give Susan some details about her Canine Assistants business, including how they find and train the dogs, what these amazing helper dogs are able to do, and how they choose which dog goes with which person (Hint: the dog has some input). Then, why violent training techniques should never be used.

Wild About Pets: Communicating With Your Dog
The first key to successfully training your dog is letting them know who’s in charge, and Jennifer will tell you how to do just that. We’ll then get a better understanding of how a dog’s senses work, and how they see the world. We’ll also find out about ways dogs communicate with us that we may not notice, and why there is an underlying reason for all bad behavior; we just need to know how to read their displaced signals.
