Two award-winning and very popular PBS travel shows make their debut on Traveln On today. Tonya and Ian will explore the world on horseback with Equitrekking host Darley Newman . Then, Richard Bangs the father of modern adventure travel and host of Adventures with Purpose will share his adventures, sense of traveling with a purpose and new books.

Darley Newman
Darley Newman is a travel expert, published author and adventurer, who searches the globe for the best in equestrian travel, while learning about local history, culture and food, for the high definition Equitrekking television series that she created. Darley is the host and producer of Equitrekking®, the first travel television series to explore the globe on horseback. In each destination, she rides with local people and introduces these locals and their way of life to viewers at home. Equitrekking is broadcast in on Public Television stations across the nation, on CREATE, a nationwide Public Television lifestyle channel and on various international networks.



 
Richard Bangs

Richard Bangs has often been called the father of modern adventure travel, and the pioneer in travel that makes a difference, travel with a purpose. He has spent 30 years as an explorer and communicator, and along the way led first descents of 35 rivers around the globe, including the Yangtze in China and the Zambezi in Southern Africa. Richard has published more than 1000 magazine articles, 19 books, produced a score of documentaries and several CD-ROMs; and has lectured at the Smithsonian, the National Geographic Society, the Explorers Club and many other notable venues. He writes a semi-regular feature with the NYTimes and served as executive producer of Richard Bangs Adventures on Yahoo. He is currently producing and hosting the new PBS series, Richard Bangs Adventures with Purpose and his companion book, Adventures with Purpose, won the 2007 best book award from NATJA. His latest books are Quest for the Sublime (2008), and Quest for the Kashah (2009).
