Julie Busha A strong work ethic was formed in childhood with the responsibility of running before school and milking cows after. The first in her family to graduate from college (all earned on scholarship), Busha graduated Academic All-American, Order of Omega and with three departmental honors. Recruited out of college by sports marketing giant, IMG, Busha rose the ranks in sports marketing in the male-dominated sport of NASCAR where she was tasked with building an agency for, Champion driver Bobby Labonte. After a decade of serving many Fortune 500 clients within the sport, she left the industry she loved to take the leap of faith as an entrepreneur. Bootstrapping & launching an innovative product in the highly competitive CPG grocery industry is no easy task, but Busha is doing it with success. She launched an innovative cabbage-based relish with addictive heat undertones called Slawsa, to shake up the relish aisle. With tremendous growth, Slawsa is now in over 8,000 grocery stores in the US & Canada, found locally in the Cincy market at Kroger. Busha was just honored by Progressive Grocer as an executive category winner of their “Top Women in Grocery.” Busha has been featured on ABC's Shark Tank, Food Network, CNBC, Cooking Channel and in publications like Forbes, Huffington Post, Entrepreneur, Inc and Sports Business Journal. Passionate about paying it forward with business advice and inspiration to fellow entrepreneurs, she mentors a dozen food start-ups and administers an entrepreneurial Facebook group of over 16,000 members. Busha is on a mission to not only re-define the relish, but to grow a "conscious movement" for supporting small business. Slawsa on Twitter Follow Julie on Twitter |
