| Dual surgery safe and effective for polycystic kidney disease A new study from Mayo Clinic, published in the American Journal of Transplantation, found that patients with polycystic kidney disease (PKD) can have dual surgery safely. This means patients with large polycystic kidneys in need of a kidney transplant can have their diseased kidneys safely removed at the same time as their transplant surgery, instead of having two separate procedures.
