Art Paine is a writer, artist, boatbuilder, and sailboat captain. He had his NDE in 1968, while serving as a Naval officer in Washington, D. C. and temporarily working as a recruiter after duty aboard an aircraft carrier off Vietnam. Art was burned over fifty percent of his body and spent four months recovering at Bethesda Naval Hospital. He now lives in a fishing village in Maine and has become well known as a marine painter. He is married and has two children and one grand child.
