Crime Club: Self Made Corpse The Crime Club is a fascinating piece of radio history, particularly because of its unique connection to the publishing world. It was essentially a promotional vehicle for the Doubleday, Doran Crime Club book imprint, which was one of the most successful mystery book series in history. The show actually had two separate runs with very different styles:
The 1930s Run: These were shorter, 15-minute episodes that were more serialized and focused on shorter mystery beats.
The 1940s Run: This what we bring you today. Airing on Mutual, these were 30-minute self-contained dramas that leaned heavily into the "hard-boiled" and psychological thriller genres popular after WWII.
This one is from 7/31/1947.
Chandu the Magician: Looking for Dorothy Here it is: your weekly dose of supernatural adventure, with Chandu the Magician, originally broadcast on 10/28/1948.
