Jana Murrell Jana was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Omaha North High school where she was a varsity athlete in basketball, track and volleyball in additiona to being a member of the honor roll. Jana earned a full academic scholarship to Creighton University, where she received her Bachelors of Health Science, and Doctorate of Physical Therapy degrees. While attending professional school, Jana worked as a traffic reporter on Omaha’s most watched morning newscast, KETV Channel 7. Though she enjoyed her time in the media, Jana stayed focused and continued to direct her efforts towards health and wellness. She is a certified aerobics and group fitness instructor, and also worked as a Community Health Advocate, and Power to End Stroke Advocate. She participated in a month long service trip to the Dominican Republic last spring where she aided in missionary work, various volunteer assignments, and provided pro bono physical therapy services in Santiago and other rural areas throughout the country. Jana is currently employed as a traveling physical therapist and is represented by various agencies that help place her in a variety of practice settings across the country. She just finished an assignment at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, however Jana’s love for the beach and sunshine led her to southern Florida where she is currently working in several sub acute facilities as well as a home health Physical Therapist. Although Jana loves to work up a sweat on the basketball court or in the gym, and doesn’t mind getting her hands a little dirty while fishing and camping, she has always had an interest in the glitz and glamour of the pageant world. Jana was drawn to the Miss Earth Pageant Organization because it merged the two ideas of the glamorous and fashionable side of pageantry, with the hands on opportunities to help clean up our environment and help preserve and protect Mother Earth through advocacy and awareness. The pageant stands firm on the slogan “Beauties for a Cause,” and it is that “cause” that Jana finds immensely important and critical to our future; therefore she desires to play a role in the fight to protect our fragile environment. It is Jana’s wish that God will shine His light through her throughout her endeavors to spread awareness on the preservation of our environment as she attempts to do her part to improve the world in which she lives.
