VALERIE HAYES, nationally respected and recognized pageant coach, author, speaker and industry thought leader launches CURRENT with VALERIE HAYES to keep listeners up-to-date on current events in a user friendly way. A featured subject matter expert on CNN, NBC, ABC, and in People magazine, Valerie brings her fun, candid approach to current events to listeners everywhere.

Filling the need for busy people to develop deep, objective, and thought provoking perspectives on current events and “hot button” topics, Valerie uses her current events expertise to help listeners develop factual, contextual understanding of current events in order to formulate their own opinions of complex, as well as seemingly simple, current events. VALERIE presents an unbiased summary of top news stories, background on how issues developed, with an open and honest discussion related to each topic. No yelling, no name calling, no guests talking over each other...just timely information to help listeners feel informed!

With her fun, slightly irreverent style, VALERIE provides listeners with facts and insight into current affairs, controversial social issues, and trending political topics -- and encourages listeners to hone their own critical thinking skills to form well thought out and insightful opinions. Addressing polarizing topics such as the upcoming election, immigration reform, terrorism, healthcare reform, gay marriage, and the country’s standing in the international arena, she helps her audience formulate well-informed opinions. CURRENT with VALERIE HAYES provides assistance in following the news while developing contestant’s analytical skills and cultural (whether it be political or ethnic) sensitivity.

VALERIE engages with “everyday expert” guests in a kitchen table conversation offering their opinions and thoughts, providing an engaging dialog for anyone of any opinion or background. Ultimately, through the process, Valerie seeks to help listeners find and develop their own opinion…as long at it’s an informed opinion!

Abortion & Access to Birth Control
Earlier this week the Supreme Court ruled once again on laws regarding abortion and access to birth control. The court struck down a Texas law requiring abortion clinics to meet strict operational guidelines deemed to be “burdensome” and upheld a law requiring a family-owned pharmacy to sell the “morning after pill”, despite the owner’s religious objections. Ever since the landmark ruling of Roe v Wade in 1973, there’s been a constant back and forth discussion (sometimes bordering on violence) about these two topics and how they relate to freedom of religion and women’s rights. In this episode, Valerie will walk you through the history behind both of these emotionally charged topics, discuss relevant legal and constitutional factors, and explore the main arguments used by both sides. If you’ve been unsure and confused by all the rhetoric, this is the information you need to develop your own opinion!
