Non-government organizations -- NGOs -- are often called The Conscience of the World.
Financed by individual donations, earnings from associated businesses and grants from governments, foundations and companies, NGOs mobilize financial resources, materials, and volunteer labor, in order to sustain humanitarian projects and programs around the globe.
Many NGOs are familiar: The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Oxfam, and CARE.
Others are obscure.
RADIO NGO is devoted to celebrating the work of these NGOs around the world, showcasing the work they do and letting listeners know how they can get involved.
Each week, RADIO NGO features interviews with world leaders in the not-for profit sector. These are remarkable people whose extraordinary dedication to improving the human condition benefits and inspires us all.
You'll hear stories of compassion, perseverance, vision, and courage, highlighting the regional, national and international projects that NGOs and fraternal organizations like the Lions, Rotary, and Kiwanis clubs do to create a safer, healthier and more peaceful world, to foster friendships and goodwill, and make life better for people around the globe.
