Dave Hoekstra

Dave Hoekstra is co-host of The Fan Cave Radio Show.

Dave has been a Chicago Sun-Times staff writer since 1985. His work has also appeared in Playboy magazine, the Chicago Reader and the Journal of Country Music, published by the Country Music Hall of Fame. He has been a contributing editor for Chicago magazine and Shore magazine.

Hoekstra’s profile of Steve Earle appeared in the DaCapo “Best Music
Writing 2000,” edited by Peter Guranlick. He wrote and co-produced the
WTTW-Channel 11 PBS special “The Staple Singers and the Civil Rights Movement,” nominated for a 2001-02 Chicago Emmy for Outstanding achivement for a DocumentaryProgram---Cultural Significance.

His collection of Sun-Times travel columns, "Ticket To Everywhere," was
published in 2000 by Lake Claremont Press. He was lead writer for "Farm Aid: Song for America" (Rodale Press, 2005) which commemorated the 20th anniversary of theWillie Nelson inspired effort.

Hoekstra’s current baseball book “Cougars and Snappers and Loons (Oh
My!) ---A Midwest League Field Guide” is now available on Can’t Miss Press.

For the past 16 years Hoekstra has written a regular baseball column for the Midwest League’s Kane County Cougars in Geneva, Il.
