While in college, Mike helped his employer, a regional PC manufacturing company, develop a new professional services practice. Upon graduation in 2000, he started an IT consulting firm to help small and mid-sized businesses benefit from leading-edge technologies. In 2001, he joined Sparkhound, a Louisiana-based IT services company, to grow the company’s Core Infrastructure practice. While at Sparkhound, he also started The Newton Project, a nonprofit Christian organization that uses pay-it-forward wristbands to help people honor others who’ve had a positive effect on them. He has spoken and mentored to the LSU Entrepreneurship Fellowship Program, and developed and teaches The 4 Rules of Leadership, a “servant leadership” seminar based on his faith and experience. He has worked with community programs and technical colleges to improve the quality of local technology education, and has led fundraising efforts for a variety of area charities.
