But what are these pageants looking for in a titleholder and do you need to drop your own personal platform in order to compete? Joining Valerie is Connie Wallace, founder and National Executive Director of the American Queen Pageant . The American Queen Pageant was one of the first pageants to lead the way in supporting a non-profit organization, the D.A.S.H. Foundation. Connie Wallace
With over 40 years pageant experience in a myriad of capacities, Connie Wallace is the founder and Executive Director of the American Queen Pageant. Working behind the scenes in the pageant world since she was a young teenager, she directed her first state pageant at the age of 18. Since then, she has directed countless state pageants, and judged and consulted on hundreds of pageant productions. She is the winner of many titles including her local Miss America title, Mrs. Rhode Island (America) and Mrs. New Jersey, winning the Title over 50 state finalists in Atlantic City, NJ. She spent a number of years as radio personality in the Philadelphia market, as the host of the Mid-Day Show on WNJC Radio. Connie has also appeared in many local, regional and national television commercials has co-hosted infomercial's, and has had a leading role in an episode of "The Forensic Files". She is also a published author having had many of her "Pageant Do's and Don'ts" columns published in leading pageant magazines. After many years as the Philadelphia Regional Marketing Manager for Universal Orlando Resort, Connie decided to return to her roots and focus on the world of pageants on a full time basis in 2001 when she founded the National American Queen Pageant. In 2006 she was chosen as one of Supermodels Unlimited Magazine's "15 Most Beautiful" in the pageant industry and was featured in their “Most Beautiful” issue.
