Keisha Grace Hudson
Children's Focus Foundation was founded in 2007 by Keisha Grace Hudson as a result of her experience working for several years within the D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS), as a Correctional Officer/ Youth Development Specialist. During her tenure she worked with numerous adjudicated and neglected youth, both male and female. Some of the youth were involved in substance abuse as well as emotionally unstable. Unfortunately, after being released from DYRS, many were murdered within the community. Resulting from Mrs. Hudson's interaction over time with the youth in her care, she found each one of the youth, despite their challenges, to be unique and exceptionally gifted. Notwithstanding the herculean efforts of the DYRS staff, Mrs. Hudson decided that it was time for her to work within the community where she could directly impact the conditions that caused many youth to end up incarcerated. Based on her experiences within the juvenile justice system, Mrs. Hudson decided that she would provide transitional housing that incorporates a safe, nurturing environment and quality programs that would strengthen families and the community. It was Mrs. Hudson's FAITH in the potential she saw in the troubled youth that inspired her vision and gave birth to her mission.
