Jim Bruton's Visit to the In Between
Bookmark and Share
Jim Bruton was flying a slightly later model reproduction airplane in October 2016 when his engine quit and he crashed into a forest. Breaking all of his ribs, rupturing both lungs, breaking his right leg in numerous places....he was fortunate to stay alive until the medical evacuation helicopter could pick him up and fly him straight to the Hartford Trauma Center. There, with multiple 6+ hour operations planned and the surgeons telling Jim's wife that it would be touch and go for that week and they could still lose him at any time, it was decided to put Jim into a coma for that entire week.

And that is where our story really begins, for in that coma Jim went to a place he calls the In Between.

Jim Bruton
One way Jim is different from most people is that he actually realized his childhood dreams.

He lived in Africa for years and has an Emmy for his film work with National Geographic Television.

He invented a satellite-video system that squeezed a television news truck into a backpack, and transmitted live video from places never possible before, including both polar regions, Mt. Everest, and warzones throughout the world, where he was also an on-air war reporter for NBC News. As a Lecturer at Yale University School of Medicine, he integrated various medical devices bound for the international space station and went back to Mt. Everest twice to test them. When he retired from the war business and settled in Connecticut, he began building WW1 fighter aircraft reproductions, and then flew them.
