Arden Pope III, PhD, Mary Lou Fulton Professor of Economics at Brigham Young University, and an expert in natural resource and environmental economics issues has studied the long term effects of the 1970 Clean Air Act, and found that the reduced levels of air pollution have added nearly five months to average life expectancies in the US. He explained the reasons behind this dramatic improvement. He said that air pollution levels in the US are continuing to improve.
